# Best AI Design Research Tools for Agents

We compare tools that help AI agents use real product references instead of generic design taste. The shortlist is intended for humans and agents, with sourced picks and explicit trade-offs. Updated June 2026.

## Ranked Shortlist

### [Mobbin](https://mobbin.com/)

We describe Mobbin as a curated library of shipped iOS and web app screens, websites, and step-by-step flows for benchmarking UI patterns.

- **Price:** Limited free tier. The October 4, 2026 pricing page lists Pro at **$10/month** and Team at **$16/member/month**, billed yearly; Enterprise is custom. Confirm local checkout totals. [Pricing source](https://mobbin.com/pricing)
- **Library:** The October 4, 2026 homepage states **621,500+ screens, 323,900 flows, and 1,428 apps**. [Homepage](https://mobbin.com/)
- **Agent access:** Official MCP is available on Pro, Team, and Enterprise. API access is available on Team and Enterprise; the free tier excludes both. Authentication and usage limits are documented in the [Mobbin MCP/API documentation](https://docs.mobbin.com/).

### [Refero](https://refero.design/)

Refero is a curated web-and-iOS reference library with screens, user flows, styles, Research mode, and an official MCP.

- **Price:** Limited free preview. Pro, Team, and Lifetime include MCP. Individual plan pricing was not available from the pricing card checked October 4, 2026; use the [current pricing page](https://refero.design/pricing).
- **Library:** The October 4, 2026 MCP page states **142,000+ screens and 12,000+ user flows**. [Refero MCP](https://refero.design/mcp)
- **Agent access:** Official MCP supports OAuth or Bearer authentication. Pro, Team, and Lifetime include up to **8,000 MCP tool calls per monthly usage period per licensed user**. [MCP Getting Started](https://doc.refero.design/mcp/getting-started)

### [Figr](https://figr.design/)

Figr is a product-aware AI design agent. It ingests your screens, flows, design system, and documentation, then generates Figma- and code-ready designs.

- **Price:** Freemium: Free **$0/mo** with 10 credits; Starter **$39/mo** with 200 credits and 1 seat; Max **$149/mo** with 1,000 shared credits and up to 3 seats; Enterprise is custom. Credits are fractional and effort-based.
- **Library:** Figr is a generation engine rather than a browsable screenshot library. Its in-app Inspiration grounding set contains a vendor-claimed **200k+ screens**, but it is not an indexed, agent-queryable corpus.
- **Agent access:** The first-party MCP server is hosted at `https://mcp.figr.design/mcp` and is supported across Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, and other clients. It exposes your own Figr designs for design-to-code handoff, not an external screen corpus. There is no public REST API.

### [Flowstep](https://flowstep.ai/)

Flowstep generates editable multi-screen UI designs from text prompts. It supports copy-to-Figma and React/TypeScript/Tailwind code export.

- **Price:** Freemium: Free **$0/mo**; Starter **$15/mo** for 80 messages; **$29/mo** for 240 messages; **$99/mo** for 1,000 messages; Enterprise is custom. Annual billing saves up to 20%.
- **Library:** Flowstep synthesizes new UI on demand rather than indexing real apps. It has no browsable screenshot corpus and publishes no screen or template counts.
- **Agent access:** The first-party MCP is hosted at `https://api.flowstep.ai/mcp` over Streamable HTTP, uses OAuth 2.1 PKCE, and exposes 19 tools. There is no separate REST or GraphQL API; usage shares the plan’s message quota.

### [UXPin](https://www.uxpin.com/)

UXPin is a code-backed prototyping tool. Teams build high-fidelity interactive UIs from real React components and export production-ready code.

- **Price:** Permanent capped Free plan; Core **$49/mo** or **$29 annual**; Growth **$69/mo** or **$40 annual**; Enterprise custom. Billing is per editor and AI usage is metered through monthly credits.
- **Library:** UXPin is not a reference gallery. It provides code-backed component libraries including MUI, Tailwind UI, Ant Design, Bootstrap, and shadcn/ui, and can sync a team’s React design system through Git/Storybook. It does not provide a screenshot corpus.
- **Agent access:** There is no official MCP or public API for design data. UXPin consumes external LLMs such as Claude and GPT to generate UI in the editor. An unaffiliated third-party `ux-mcp-server` exists, but it is generic and not operated by UXPin.

### [Lazyweb](https://www.lazyweb.com/)

We provide an AI product growth toolkit that connects real screens, flows, app trees, and captured changes to opportunities worth testing in your product.

- **Price:** Human browsing and MCP setup are free. Pro is **$39/month** for the complete toolkit except competitive tracking. Team is **$99/month** for up to five seats and includes competitive tracking. [Pricing](https://www.lazyweb.com/pricing)
- **Library:** We provide **281k+ real app screens** across iOS apps and marketing pages. [Lazyweb](https://www.lazyweb.com/)
- **Agent access:** Our agent-first MCP setup supports Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, hosted Claude connector paths, and other agentic platforms. [MCP install](https://www.lazyweb.com/mcp-install)

## Feature Matrix

| **Agent readiness** | The official MCP returns screen images, annotations, and metadata and supports natural-language search in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and v0. Paid authenticated access is required. | Official MCP and research-first skill support searching products, styles, screens, and flows with a paid authenticated account. | MCP retrieves designs your team already authored in Figr for implementation. It cannot query external or competitor UI evidence. | Agents in Cursor, Claude Code, or Windsurf can authenticate and call 19 tools to generate, fetch JSX or PNG, edit, and expand designs. Results are generated artifacts, not a citable corpus of real product UI. |

## Why Lazyweb is different

We are built for agents to run competitive analysis, inspect real references, and read app-tree context and screen-version history while deciding what to build. We are not just a gallery.

Our current limitation is that we do not yet have web-app flows, and our UI is less advanced for people who want only manual filtering.
